Materials & sustainability5

What our packaging is made from and what happens to it after use.

Paper cups and containers need a thin lining to hold liquid. The lining decides how the item can be disposed of:

PETA conventional plastic lining. Recyclable where facilities accept it, not compostable.
PLAA plant-based lining. Compostable in industrial composting facilities.
AqueousA water-based, plastic-free lining.

Not sure which suits your waste stream? Tell us how your bins are collected and we'll point you to the right one.

Mostly kraft paper, sugarcane bagasse (the fibre left after sugar is pressed out of the cane), PLA (a plant-based plastic) and wood for cutlery.

Swapping plastic containers, cups and cutlery for paper, bagasse and wood cuts the conventional single-use plastic your business puts into the world, and gives your customers packaging that can be recycled or composted where local facilities allow.

It depends on where it ends up. Compostable packaging only breaks down properly in the right composting conditions. Recyclable packaging only gets recycled if it reaches a facility that accepts it.

The best choice is the one that matches how waste is actually collected at your site and your customers' homes.

Start with the basics: right-size containers so you aren't shipping air, cut extras like separate lids and bags where they aren't needed, and choose materials your local waste service can actually recycle or compost. Some businesses also offer reusable containers for regulars.

Custom printing2

Putting your brand on cups, boxes and bags.

Yes. We print cups, containers, bags, boxes and more, from a simple one-colour logo to full custom designs. Send us your logo and what you're packing and we'll come back with options and a quote.

It depends on your menu, your volumes and whether you want plain or branded stock. Our team will recommend a range that fits, whether that's compostable bagasse food boxes, recyclable or compostable cups, or wooden cutlery.

Email us with what you serve and roughly how much, and we'll set up a quick consultation.

UK rules2

What the law says about single-use plastic packaging.

Since October 2023, England has banned the supply of certain single-use plastic items, including plastic cutlery and polystyrene food and drink containers. The aim is to cut plastic pollution and move businesses to alternatives.

Polystyrene (PS)Light and cheap but brittle. Used for foam clamshells. Hard to recycle, and banned for food containers in England since 2023.
Polypropylene (PP)Tougher and heat-resistant, so it's used for soup pots and microwavable tubs. More widely recyclable than polystyrene.
